Was Mr. Goldsworthy Murdered?

The Eccentric World Explorer

Can you locate the Dragon's Egg artifact before the last will and testament is read of Mr. W.H. Goldsworthy?

You and your friends have one hour to search for clues left in the study of eccentric world-explorer William Goldsworthy, in order to find his most prized possession -- The Dragon's Egg.

William H. Goldsworthy is dead.

The two of you had become friends when he invited you over for a cup of tea after you moved to the neighborhood. The eccentric old man told great tales of his travels and adventures – and he had the best-tasting tea.

But now your new friend is dead, and his attorney has contacted you. Apparently, William left word with his attorney that you are to be allowed an hour alone in his study before his will is read.

While you are sad he’s gone, you’re curious, too, about this strange last request. Did William want you to remember the laughs you shared as he regaled you with stories of high adventure? Or did he have a message for you instead? Is he trying to tell you that maybe it wasn’t old age that did him in? Perhaps he left a little something for you before his family arrives. He was suspicious of his nephew and niece and felt they were just waiting for him to die so they could get his money and house.

You’ve arrived at William’s home. His attorney will show you to the study, where the mystery will be revealed. Can you find the clues to solve it? You’ll have one hour to try …

Was Mr. Goldsworthy Murdered?

World explorer William H. Goldsworthy died Oct. 17 at his home in Ooltewah. He was 84.

The extravagant adventurer was found at his desk by his long-time housekeeper. He never married and had no children. He is survived by a nephew and niece, Jonathan Goldsworthy and Emily Perkins, both of Ooltewah.

No foul play is suspected in the death, and family declined an autopsy. Family members and staff say Goldsworthy was becoming reclusive.

Goldsworthy discovered many valuable and rare artifacts during a lifetime of adventures and explorations. In the early 1960s, he and his one-time partner, Mr. Pritchard, went in search of the fabled Dragon’s Egg but were unsuccessful in finding it.

An avid book reader and collector, Goldsworthy spent most of his time in recent years in his study, according to family members and staff.

His attorney declined to discuss his net worth. Goldsworthy’s last will and testament will be read Oct. 27 in the library at his home.
